Los Vientos 1A & 1B Wind Projects

The Los Vientos 1A and 1B wind projects are located in the Rio Grande Valley near Harlingen, Texas.  The projects lie adjacent to one another and shall combine to produce 400 Megawatts of power.  The Los Vientos 1A Project consists of 87 Siemens SWT-2.3 wind turbines, each with a hub height of approximately 320-ft and a rotor diameter of approximately 350-ft.  Each wind turbine will be supported by a spread footing foundation that will consist of 680 cubic yards of concrete and 69 tons of steel reinforcement.  An underground electrical collection system shall be built to transfer the power generated by the wind turbines to the Los Vientos 1A electrical substation.  Once at the Los Vientos 1A substation, the electricity shall be converted to 138 kilovolts and fed to an overhead transmission line to be constructed for the project which shall run approximately 10 miles.
 
The Los Vientos 1B wind project shall consist of 84 Mitsubishi MWT 102 wind turbines, each with a hub height of 295-ft and a rotor diameter of 334-ft.  These wind turbines shall also be supported by foundations which are made from over 680 cubic yards of concrete and 66 tons of steel reinforcement.  Each Mitsubishi wind turbine will produce up to 2.4 Megawatts of electricity which shall also be fed through an underground collection system to the projects Los Vientos 1B Substation.  Once at the substation, this power shall also be converted and fed to the newly constructed overhead transmission system.
